Coma Vella
Coma Vella is a distinguished red wine from the Priorat region, offering a harmonious blend of ripe red fruits, subtle oak nuances, and a touch of Mediterranean herbs, complemented by a smooth, structured finish.
Vinification
Crafted from a blend of Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah, sourced from 18 distinct vineyard blocks, with 20% of the vines over 60 years old. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented separately in stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 10–20% new oak, to impart subtle oak characteristics while preserving the fruit-forward profile.
Tasting Notes
Displays a deep cherry-red color with violet hues. The nose reveals aromas of ripe red fruits like blackberries and raspberries, intertwined with notes of wild herbs and minerality. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with soft tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, elegant finish that showcases the harmony between fruit and oak.
Pairing Suggestions
Ideal with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, hearty stews, and aged cheeses. Its structure and complexity also make it a delightful companion to Mediterranean cuisine and tapas.
