Ribera del Duero

Ribera del Duero

Ribera del Duero, in Castilla y León, is famed for bold red wines along the Duero River. High-altitude vineyards (700–1,000m) help Tempranillo—known as Tinto Fino—ripen slowly, producing deeply coloured, structured wines with freshness and ageing potential. Small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Garnacha are also used, while Albillo Mayor has revived white production.

Ribera wines show black fruit, spice, and oak notes, classified from Joven to Gran Reserva. Wineries such as Bodega Tomás Postigo, Bodega Protos, and Bodega Arzuaga Navarro embody the region’s prestige and innovation.
